Technology is a growing at a very fast rate in the world today. So fast that it is causing our scientist  to do things differently. Scientist have been thrown off stride with the making of new gadgets an new methods. The ideas for these gadgets have been here for years but in the early years funding was a big problem therefor these ideas just stayed ideas. In this article, Bush goes into detail about a couple of glaring technologies such as advanced photography, "thermionic tubes capable of controlling potent forces under the guidance of less power than a mosquito uses to vibrate his wings," and many other mechanical aids.

Two centuries ago a calculating machine was invented that was very much like a keyboard. This device could not come to use though for various reasons such as: the labor involved in constructing it, and it would have broke down often so it was not dependable.

Babbage had great support for his time, but still could not produce his arithmetic machine. The idea was there but the construction and maintenance costs were too heavy.

The article then goes into the advances of photography. Progress in photography will continue to grow at a fast pace because of things like faster material and lenses, finer grain, and cameras that automatically adjust exposer.
